The Listserv Manager (LM) allows customization of the Daily Digest from Vital Communities-hosted listservs.
The LM reviews each Daily Digest, particularly each author's email and contents. When suitable, it applies one of three tags: Promote, Highlight, or Hide.
Start by registering for the LM. Then, create a list of subscribers to prioritize, highlight, or ignore their posts.
You can select suggested topics for inclusion or exclusion in your Daily Digest.
The LM returns a processed Daily Digest with some posts prioritized, highlighted, or hidden.
Topics and posts tagged "Prioritize" are automatically promoted to the top of your Daily Digest, while those tagged "Highlight" appear in red.
You may modify your preferences in the LM anytime you wish. The updated preferences will take effect in the next issue of the Daily Digest.
When Vital Communities sends a raw Daily Digest, set your email client to auto-forward it to the LM and replace it with a processed version. Forwarding options are usually in Settings.
Register. Start by registering for Listserv Manager service by sending an email to ManageMyListserv@gmail.com with the single word "Register" in the Subject line. In a few moments you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for using the LM. If you do not see this email, check your spam folder.
Email addresses. Create a list of email addresses of people whose posts you want to prioritize, highlight, or hide. Posts from subscribers tagged as "Prioritize" are automatically promoted to the top of your Daily Digest. Posts from those tagged as "Highlight" will be highlighted in red. If you select "Hide," you won't see posts from that person in your Digest.
Topics. Review the suggested topics and select those you'd like special treatment. Tagged 'Prioritize' posts are automatically promoted to the top of your Daily Digest. 'Highlight' tags will highlight posts in red. Choosing 'Hide' will exclude posts from that topic in your Digest.
Display options. By checking "Show topic tags," the Daily Digest displays applied tags for each post. Check "Remove emojis and special characters" to hide decorations some subscribers add.
Multiple devices. When you register for LM service, a token is stored on your device, allowing automatic login to the Listserv Manager to modify preferences. To add LM to other devices (like a smartphone), email ManageMyListserv@gmail.com with "Register" in the Subject. This creates a token for automatic login on that device.
Token recovery. If, for some reason, your LM token is lost and you are no longer automatically logged in, you can be emailed a 6-digit code to recover it.
Automated forwarding. Automating the work of the LM will require adding some filtering to your particular email client. Instructions for adding filtering to Gmail are available here.
