Your message will be reviewed by a human moderator to ensure it complies with the guidelines. If approved, your message will be queued for later delivery to all subscribers. The system automatically sends out approved messages in a single email (the “Daily Digest”) each time the total has reached 12. This means that you may receive more than one email in a day if there are many messages. However, a new Daily Digest will always be sent around 6AM each morning, regardless of the number of messages.
If your message is declined by the moderator, an explanation will be provided along with an invitation to resubmit the message that is compliant with the guidelines.
The Exchange is exclusively for residents of Woodstock and its surrounding towns. Please refer to the provided list to see which towns are included in our community.
If you live in a different town and would like to post on the Exchange, we kindly ask that you share your message on your own town's list or Front Porch Forum instead. This ensures that your information reaches the appropriate audience, even if you believe it would interest the Woodstock community. Thank you for your understanding!
Please ensure that all contributions remain respectful and considerate of fellow subscribers. Email has no “tone of voice,” so be careful in what you write. Discuss issues, not people. Don’t ascribe motives to others. Remember, you might not have all the facts. This community is meant to encourage constructive discussion, collaboration, and open exchange of ideas in a positive environment. Disagreements are normal, but they should be expressed in a civil and professional way. Personal attacks, harassment, discriminatory remarks, or any form of abusive or hostile language are not acceptable under any circumstances.
The Exchange administrators reserve the right to review all posts and decide whether content violates these standards. If violations occur, appropriate action may be taken, including temporarily suspending posting privileges or permanently removing someone from the platform.
To help maintain the quality of the Exchange, please refrain from forwarding content that has already been shared elsewhere. If you find an appropriate article online that you'd like to reference, summarize your point and include a link to the source. Posting copyrighted material is prohibited. Additionally, it is not appropriate to share the content of any private correspondence from a list member without obtaining explicit permission from all parties involved.
Our goal is to keep our communication clear and respectful for everyone. When posting, please be concise and straightforward. Long messages can be difficult for others to follow, which may discourage subscribers from reading your post. We ask that you limit your post to 300 words unless you have made prior arrangements with the Exchange administrators.
If your content exceeds 300 words, please provide a brief summary and include a link to a Google Doc. There are no word limits for linked documents, so feel free to write as much as you need. Creating a link to a Google Doc is simple. To learn how, watch this short video: https://youtu.be/7q6h1fYuYM4?si=vuzG6Ga6vdt7dCbZ.
If you have an item to sell or a service to promote, please limit your posts to once per week. You are welcome to post until your item is sold, but please refrain from posting more frequently to avoid overwhelming the service. Thank you!
Please ensure that you include your first name, last name, and town at the end of your post. Submissions that are anonymous (even if your name is mentioned within the post or in your email address) may result in your being added to the "unknown" list, which could prevent you from posting in the future.
The subject of your email will be the title of your post. Make it engaging or thought-provoking. Do not include any text in the Subject that properly belongs in the Body of your message.
Decorative text characters or content written in all caps has been shown to divert readers' attention from traditionally formatted text. Posts with titles containing decoraative text or in all capital letters may be rejected by the moderator. Bolded text should be used sparingly and never applied to entire paragraphs.
The content of your message will be sent as is, including any spelling or grammatical errors. Please proofread your writing before pressing the SEND button, as once your message is sent, it cannot be modified.
The Exchange is overseen by a team of volunteer administrators and moderators. They reserve the right to review posts and approve or decline publication. In addition, they may revoke posting privileges for subscribers who don’t follow the guidelines. They have the authority to warn, suspend, or permanently exclude any subscriber for any abuse or infringement of these rules and guidelines. The decision by the Exchange administrators to decline posts for violation of the guidelines is final and not subject to debate.
The Exchange administrators or moderators do not control or assume any legal or editorial responsibility for the content shared on this platform. Content is generated by individual subscribers, who are solely responsible for their own postings. Once content is approved for publication, it is automatically distributed to all subscribers, and the Exchange administrators cannot retract or modify this content after it is published. Additionally, all historical content is publicly accessible in the archives of the Woodstock Community Exchange.
